Train from Oslo to Flåm via Flåm Railway

The Bergen Railway (Bergensbanen) is more than just a way to travel between Oslo and Bergen — it’s one of Europe’s most spectacular train journeys. Spanning nearly 500 kilometers across southern Norway, the line connects the country’s two largest cities through an ever-changing landscape of forests, mountains, fjords, and high mountain plateaus.

The train stops at Myrdal Station, a remote mountain junction and the starting point of the world-famous Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana) — a breathtaking descent from the mountains to the fjords. Travelers heading to Flåm change here for the scenic ride down to Aurlandsfjord, passing deep valleys, cascading waterfalls, and picture-perfect landscapes along the way.

Guided snowshoe walk in Flåm

At the starting point, you will be introduced to snowshoes, followed by a 1.5-hour hike during which the local guide shares stories about life on the mountain farms, the dramatic surrounding nature, and local culture. At the turning point of the hike, you can enjoy panoramic views of the fjord, the villages of Aurland and Flåm, while being served hot drinks and having time to take in the serene beauty of the area.

This snowshoe tour is perfect for beginners and provides a great opportunity to experience the Norwegian winter landscape. Warm clothing is recommended.

You can choose between a morning or an afternoon departure. As daylight fades and dusk sets in, the afternoon tour includes a headlamp – creating an unforgettable winter atmosphere in the sparkling light of the snow, the forest, and, with a bit of luck, the stars.

Note: Due to weather changes, warm periods may result in little or no snow, and the tour will then be conducted as a regular hike.

Start the day with a 2-hour fjord cruise from Flåm to Gudvangen. 

The Nærøyfjord is narrow and spectacular. The fjord is 17 km long and at its narrowest, it is 250 meters wide. The beautiful fjord landscape is often referred to as one of the most beautiful areas in the world and has earned its well-deserved place on UNESCO's World Heritage List. 

The modern vessels are designed to maximize the sightseeing experience. The boats are fully electric, allowing you to enjoy the tranquility of the fjord without noise and other emissions. Here, you get the feeling of gliding silently through the fjord landscape, completely different from the more traditional passenger boats.
