Start in Ålesund and cycle through some of Norway’s most spectacular fjord and mountain landscapes. The route combines challenging climbs, scenic valleys, fjord crossings and famous mountain roads, with comfortable accommodation and luggage transfer between stages.
From Ålesund to the Geirangerfjord
From Ålesund, cycle along Hjørundfjorden beneath the Sunnmøre Alps before cycling through the dramatic Norangsdalen Valley.
Continue towards the UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord, where a scenic fjord cruise takes you past waterfalls and steep mountain cliffs. From Geiranger, climb Ørnevegen (Eagle Road) and continue towards Valldal and its fertile valleys.
Over the Mountains to Åndalsnes
The route continues towards the legendary Trollstigen mountain road, with its famous hairpin bends and dramatic mountain scenery. From here, descend to Åndalsnes, the gateway to some of the best hiking and mountain experiences in the region.
The cycling is varied and demanding, with several significant climbs. A good level of fitness and experience with longer mountain rides is recommended.
A Self-Guided Fjord Cycling Adventure
Your luggage is transferred between accommodations, so you only carry what you need for the day. We arrange the accommodation, luggage transport and included boat and ferry connections, while you ride independently and at your own pace.
Your tour ends in Åndalsnes. For an extra scenic experience, the Rauma Railway can be added to your itinerary.
