Cycling the Fjords & Islands South of Bergen

There are several hikes to choose from, or you can go for a bike trip. We also recommend visiting the Manor House from 1665, the Stonepark, the Folgefonn centre to learn about climate change or the floating experience center Salmon Eye.

From Rosendal, you will see some traffic. The road runs through lush farmlands, with lovely views of the Hardangerfjord. You take the ferry across the fjord and bike towards Uggdal.

Known for its distinctive and personal atmosphere, Haaheim Gaard is a great place to spend the night. Growing their own herbs and vegetables in the garden, they will serve you a tasty meal based on local produce and seasonal ingredients. 

We highly recommend biking a detour, via the beautiful village Onarhamn, towards Hodnanes. You then take the ferry across to Stord, and to Leirvik. Leirvik is a small city on the island of Stord, with a nice city centre and harbour.

Bike from Leirvik via Fitjar to Sandvikvåg. Ferry to Husavik, and then a short bicycle tour to Bekkjarvik. This stage follows the signposts of the North Sea Route, which runs from Egersund to Bergen. Signposts only to Sandvikvåg. Some uphill from Leirvik to Sagvåg, then easy cycling through a lush cultural landscape.

Bekkjarvik is an old trading station packed with coastal culture and with a fishery museum at Bekkjarvik Square. Be ready for yet another fantastic food experience at Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri.

We recommend spending some time in Austevoll before you leave for Bergen. You find several nice detours along the way to Hufthamar.
The Express boat arrive Bergen at 15:50.

Rental bikes are picked up at the boat terminal upon arrival to Bergen.
