A peaceful multi-day classic cross-country ski tour through beautiful mountain landscapes, with quiet trails, welcoming mountain lodges and excellent local food.
Discover the quieter side of Norwegian cross-country skiing on the Jotunheimen Cross-Country Trail. The route runs from the area north of Lemonsjøen westwards towards Gjende and Jotunheimen National Park, through gentle forests and open mountain terrain.
Enjoy well-prepared ski trails, spectacular mountain views and peaceful surroundings. Away from the busiest ski destinations, this is a chance to slow down and experience the Norwegian winter at your own pace.
Classic Cross-Country Skiing in Peaceful Surroundings
The route is suitable for classic cross-country skiing and follows a network of groomed and marked trails. Most of the terrain is relatively gentle, with a mix of sheltered forest tracks and open mountain sections.
Depending on the area and conditions, the trails are prepared by machine or snowmobile. There are generally fewer skiers here, giving you plenty of space to enjoy the landscape and the silence. With a little luck, you may even spot reindeer or moose along the way.
Mountain Lodges and Excellent Food
Most nights are spent at traditional, family-run mountain lodges, offering warm hospitality, comfortable accommodation and delicious meals. Local ingredients and Norwegian food traditions are an important part of the experience, with specialities such as reindeer, moose, venison and trout.
You also spend two nights in a cosy cabin at Sjodalen Hyttetun, with time to relax and explore the surroundings. On Thursdays, you can join an optional dog-sledding excursion.
A Relaxed Ski Holiday in Jotunheimen
This self-guided ski tour is ideal for those who want to experience the Norwegian mountains away from the crowds. Gentle terrain, peaceful trails, welcoming mountain lodges and good food make this a rewarding winter holiday in the heart of Jotunheimen.
