A self-guided cycling journey combining two of our popular Western Norway tours, taking you from Bergen through the fjords, islands and coastal landscapes of Hardanger and Sunnhordland.

This combination tour brings together Around the Hardangerfjord and Cycling the Fjords & Islands South of Bergen in one varied cycling holiday. Starting and finishing in Bergen, you experience two very different sides of Western Norway, the dramatic fjords and fruit orchards of Hardanger and the islands, coastline and coastal communities south of Bergen.

From Bergen to the Hardangerfjord

Your round trip starts in Bergen before heading into Hardanger. Cycle along the Hardangerfjord, surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls and fruit orchards. In Rosendal, stay for two nights and have time to explore the village, surrounding mountains and local attractions.

The route combines manageable cycling stages with opportunities to explore along the way, from historic sites and orchards to fjord viewpoints and local food.

From Fjords to Islands

The journey continues towards the islands and coast south of Bergen, where the landscape changes from deep fjords and mountains to open sea, islands and small coastal villages.

Cycle quiet coastal roads and enjoy scenic ferry and express boat journeys as part of the route. The combination of cycling and boat travel allows you to experience the region from both land and sea.

A Self-Guided Fjord Cycling Adventure

Your luggage is transferred between accommodations, while you cycle independently and at your own pace. We arrange the accommodation and practical details, leaving you free to stop for a hike, explore a village, enjoy a long lunch or simply take your time along the route.

Combine two of Western Norway’s most scenic cycling tours and experience the contrast between the fjords of Hardanger and the islands and coastline south of Bergen.

I just wanted to let you know the trip was fantastic.

Everything was perfect, and I mean every little detail. Bike rental, hotels, food, routes, ferries/boats, trains, route alternatives. Not a single thing did not go exactly as indicated in your itinerary.

Many thanks to you and your team for the fond memories.

Thank you again. I certainly hope to be back some day.
