Sustainable Travel in Norway – Hiking, Biking, and Skiing

Norway is a paradise for eco-friendly outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and skiing. These low-impact, sustainable modes of transportation protect wildlife through their slow pace and quiet movement. With zero emissions, they help keep Norway’s mountains, fjords, and waterways clean while allowing you to explore breathtaking scenery.
Travelling under your own power reduces energy consumption, and using e-bikes in Norway promotes renewable energy sources. By avoiding fossil fuels, you help cut carbon emissions—one of the main causes of climate change and habitat loss. Choosing a bike instead of a car also reduces the demand for oil and other finite resources, encouraging the shift toward sustainable energy solutions.
The benefits go beyond the environment. Active travel is a healthy and enjoyable way to get around, giving you the chance to connect with nature, discover new landscapes, and meet local communities. Whether you’re cycling through Norwegian fjords, hiking in the mountains, or skiing in winter, you’ll experience Norway in a meaningful way while supporting nature conservation.
In short, choosing hiking, biking, and skiing for your Norway vacation is a simple yet powerful way to promote sustainability, reduce your carbon footprint, and protect the country’s unique environment.

Our Location and Creative Environment
We are a small, privately owned travel company based in Lillehammer, Norway, with our office located in FABRIKKEN—a historic factory building transformed into a hub for creativity and collaboration. This unique space houses over 30 small businesses within the art, culture, and adventure tourism sectors. Our premises are close to public transportation, and we work daily to minimise our footprint through low energy consumption and recycling practices.
Supporting Local Communities
Whenever possible, we choose traditional, locally owned accommodations in smaller towns and villages. By doing so, we help maintain vibrant, year-round communities and create local jobs in accommodation, dining, and equipment rental.
We also encourage our guests to visit local galleries, museums, and artisan workshops, and we provide recommendations for guided excursions and cultural activities that directly support the local economy.
Sustainable Transport Choices
When transportation is necessary, we always recommend using public transport in Norway, which is safe, reliable, and eco-friendly. If public transport is not available, we work with local transport providers to ensure that travel benefits the communities we visit.
Why Travel With Us
By choosing our company, you are supporting sustainable tourism in Norway and helping to preserve Norway’s cultural heritage, creative industries, and pristine natural environment. Together, we can create travel experiences that are authentic, responsible, and enriching—for both visitors and the communities that welcome them.
