Are you ready to pedal through some of Norway`s most breathtaking coastal landscapes? Every turn unveils a new vista of scenic beauty as you explore the Arctic Coast and Vesterålen by bike.

Take a deep breath and fill your lungs with crisp Arctic air as you embark on a cycling adventure through Northern Norway’s spectacular landscapes. Pedal through a world of majestic mountains, shimmering fjords, turquoise waters, and remote islands bathed in the magical light of the Midnight Sun — visible from late May to mid-July, when it never truly gets dark.

Your journey begins in Tromsø, the vibrant “Gateway to the Arctic.” Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and deep blue fjords, Tromsø is the perfect starting point for your adventure. As you leave the city behind, follow scenic coastal roads towards the island of Sommarøy, where white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters await. Take a moment to pause, breathe in the salty sea air, and perhaps dip your toes in the refreshing Arctic Ocean before continuing onward.

From there, your route leads to Senja, Norway’s second-largest island and a paradise for nature lovers. Cycle through dramatic landscapes of towering cliffs, lush valleys, and sparkling fjords that seem to stretch endlessly. Continue to Andøya, where rugged coastlines and untouched wilderness create the perfect backdrop for whale watching and photography.

The final stretch takes you through Vesterålen, a region of tranquil fishing villages, peaceful fjords, and colorful marshlands framed by mountain peaks. The cycling here is mostly easy, along quiet roads where you can truly soak in the silence and beauty of Arctic Norway. In Nyksund and Bø, you can add extra days to enjoy optional cycling routes, scenic hikes, or boat trips. Don’t miss the famous Queen’s Route (Dronningruta) — one of Norway’s most beautiful coastal trails.

This tour combines two self-guided routes that showcase the very best of Northern Norway’s coastal scenery. It’s an immersive experience where every turn of the pedal brings a new view — and every day a new adventure under the endless Arctic sky.
