Explore Rondane is the perfect multi-day walk for those looking for friendly terrain and well-marked trails, surrounded by grand landscapes and dramatic mountains. With a total distance of 32 km, this is also a great walk for the whole family. You are likely to be joined by native birds for much of the hike – listen for the call of grouse and wild animals such as reindeer, moose and fox.
The Explore Rondane self-guided walk is a great alternative to a fully guided tour. The stages vary between 6-12 km in easy terrain, and you can forget about the hassle of carrying heavy backpacks, as we will transport the luggage for you. At the mountain lodges you will be served traditional meals. The hosts will welcome you into the comfort of their lodge and ready-made-beds for you at the end of the day.
- Øigardseter Mountain Lodge is a large lodge with hotel standard beautifully situated in Høvringen, at the border of the Rondane National Park.
- Putten Seter was originally a small mountain farm. Here you will stay in traditional cottages, apartments or rooms. From the lodge you can enjoy a magnificent view towards the Gudbrandsdalen valley and Jotunheimen National Park.
- At Smuksjøseter Mountain Lodge you are almost inside the National Park, with stunning views and quiet surroundings. During winter there is no road, and the lodge can only be reached on skis or by riding the snowmobile from Høvringen.
