Winter Activity Package

Visit Tromsø and Senja to see the northern lights and experience the Arctic.
During this trip, you will learn a lot about Senja's nature and experience different types of activities. The guides at Mefjord Brygge will do their best to give you the most exciting and memorable experiences depending on the season and weather conditions.
Mefjord Brygge is located in the old fishing village of Mefjordvær on the seaward side of Senja, surrounded by fantastic mountains and fjords.

- Discover the best vantage points and learn secrets of the Northern Lights from professional guides
- Admire the beauty of Aurora Borealis reflected in the sea - steep mountains in the foreground while visiting some remote spots
- Take excellent photos of Arctic colours just a short walk beyond the village limits
- See Northern Lights directly outside your accommodation if the sky is clear

Most important: you will return home with life-lasting memories and stories to tell.

Program

  • TOUR DATES 2023:
    Selected Mondays and Fridays from early January to the end of March.
    Other dates on request.

    NUMBER OF DAYS: 4 days/3 nights

    NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: We need a minimum of 2 people to complete the tour.

    Guided activities in the mornings and/or evenings (3 or 4 activities).
    There may be changes in the program due to snow- and weather conditions.

  • day 1: Arrival

    Afternoon Express Boat cruise from Tromsø to Finnsnes/Lysnes (from 15.00 depending on the day of week).
    Pickup and transfer by minibus across Senja to Mefjord Brygge.

    Dinner, meeting with the guides and information about the program

    Time to get to know the area or relax in your room/apartment.
    It is possible to book a sauna or go for a short walk around the village to see some interesting spots. If the weather is very good today, we may swap tomorrow's evening activity with today's evening.

  • Day 2: Arctic Boat Safari and Northern Lights Safari

    After breakfast: Meet at the pier for an Arctic Boat Safari, exploring coastal nature to see wildlife and marine landscape by boat. The boat has a comfortable seating area both inside and outside. We will provide warm flotation suits (about 3 hours).

    After lunch: Free time / possible to rent snow shoes or cross country skis for a small trip on your own / relax in hot-tub & sauna / explore the village

    After dinner: Lecture about Northern Lights and Arctic wildlife followed by Northern Lights Safari - driving to Senja’s most iconic locations and scenic viewpoints to see Arctic nature.

  • Day 3: Optional activity and cultural walk

    After breakfast: Optional activities: Husky Safari or other guided/self-guided activities, such as hiking, snowshoeing, island sightseeing, extra boat trip etc. (on request by the reception/guide).

    After lunch: Free time / possible to use snow shoes on your own / relax in hot-tub & sauna / explore the village.

    After dinner: A guided night walk (or hike) on snow shoes in search of the Northern Lights. Our guides will surprise you by telling some old local stories, showing interesting places and introducing you to traditions linked with north-Norwegian culture.
    Depending on other details, the tour can be done as daytime or nighttime combined with bonfire and/or Northern Lights spotting.
    If case of no snow in the early season, we would go for a hike instead.

  • Day 4: Departure

    Breakfast & Lunch to-go.
    Transfer to Finnsnes
    Fjord Cruise with Hurtigruten/Havila from Finnsnes to Tromsø*

    * We may arrange an earlier departure to catch the 8.45 AM boat arriving in Tromsø at 10.00 (by request if needed).
