In the centre of Gudbrandsdalen Valley, just north of Lillehammer, you find the Kingdom of Ibsens legendary Norse folk hero Peer Gynt. A magnificent area of natural beauty where Peer Gynt found tranquillity and inspiration to many of his fantasies. Peer Gynt may well have been a boaster and a dreamer, but a visit to the area will convince you that Peer had good reason to boast of his Kingdom.
This is one of our most popular mountain trails. You walk from hotel to hotel, starting in Lillehammer/Skei, ending in Espedalen, about 67 km as the crow flies. This is a holiday for those looking for a challenge, but in a safe way and without the drudgery of exhausting climbs with heavy rucksacks. You spend most of the time above treeline (900-1000 m.a.s.l), where you can enjoy the breath-taking panorama of the Jotunheimen and Rondane mountain ranges.

The trip starts in Skei. You can go by train or own car to Lillehammer and public bus from Lillehammer to Skei. After the last night in Espedalen, you can go by public bus to Vinstra railway station and by train back to Lillehammer, Oslo or Trondheim.
