Edvard Munch rented Grimsrød Manor on the island Jeløy, close to Moss, from 1913 to 1916. Here you can visit Galleri F 15 with a program of temporary exhibitions. There is also a café and a bookshop with literature about Munch’s time in Moss. The walking trail, In Munch’s footsteps, has information boards with facts about Edvard Munch’s life and artistic activities on Jeløy.
Day 1 and 2, in Oslo
Welcome to Oslo, or Kristiania, as Norway’s capital was known until 1925. In Oslo you can have walk through the history of Munch. Go past some of the places where he lived.
Enjoy Oslo city centre and have a peak into Grand Café, that used to be a meeting point for Norwegians artist.
Visit The Munch Museum, Norway’s most important art collection and one of the world's largest monographic collections.
You also find a hall of Munch paintings at The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design.
See Ekely is where Munch lived and worked most of his adult life. His Winter Studio is still there.
Drive up the hillside at Ekeberg where you find an iron with a relief image of The Scream and the text “The motif was painted from here”

Day 3, From Oslo to Lillehammer
Visit the The Munch Centre in Løten and learn where he was born and later spent time and found inspiration for his artwork. The Munch trail in Løten can be followed by car.
Continue north to Lillehammer where you can visit the amazing Lillehammer Art Museum, one of the nation’s leading art museums. The museum´s permanent collection contains 4 original paintings of Edvard Munch.

Day 4: From Lillehammer towards Vågå
In 1895, when he was 32 years old, Munch walked from Lillehammer through the Gausdal Valley, on his way to visit relatives in Vågå. To see some of the landscapes that inspired Edvard Munch, you can drive up the Gausdal Valley to Skei and continue on the Peer Gynt Road via Gålå to Espedalen. After that, you drive up the Heidal Valley with the largest density of heritage listed buildings in Norway. You even stay overnight in traditional houses that are typical in Heidal from the 1600s and onwards.

Day 5, Munch in Vågå
In Vågå you can see where Edvard Munch’s father’s family lived for generations and Munch still had many close relatives living during his lifetime. He visited Vågå on many occasions. In Vågå, you can visit the Vågå church and the Ullinsvin parsonage. The ere is a well-marked Munch walk of 1.32 km.

Day 6: Gjende towards Åsgårdstrand
Drive the Norwegian Scenic route, Valdresflye, crossing the mountain plateaux, past Beitostølen Resort to Valdres. Here you find as many as 6 of the 28 preserved Stave churches in Norway. The Valdres Folk Museum in Fagernes has a permanent exhibit of Norwegian folk costumes.
Make a stop at Kistefos-Museum a combination of Industrial Museum, Art Hall and Sculpture Park close to Hønefoss. Not far from the Kistefos-Museum is the Hadeland Glassworks Visitor Centre. Now you can experience the world’s most visited multi-sensory exhibition, Van Gogh Alive from 11 May to 18 August 2019.

Day 7: Åsgårdstrand
Visit Edvard Munch’s Home in Åsgårdstrand. The surroundings were a constant source of inspiration. Edvard Munch painted many of his masterpieces in Åsgårdstrand, such as The Bridge, Four girls in Åsgårdstrand and The Dance of Life.
The Munch Journey ends in Åsgårdstrand. From here, you can continue traveling in Norway, return to Oslo or take the ferry from Larvik to Denmark.
